Read the story behind the art
After a night walking the Vegas Strip with Donnie, I drove toward St. George. The road through the mountains was incredible. At one point I looked ahead and thought, How the hell does the highway get through THAT? It went right between the rock walls, which answered the question rather dramatically. I did pull over for some pictures; the photos I tried to take while driving were a terrible idea, and I do not recommend my method. St. George was on the other side. This ledge and the huge rock face became my Utah photograph, Red Ledge.

Read about this meal
My first choice for lunch in St. George had no power because of street work. The place across the street had no power either, so I sat in the parking lot looking for a restaurant with functioning electricity. The Painted Pony won. I started with carrot soup and garlic bread, expecting to be unconvinced, and was surprised that I liked it. The chopped chicken Caesar salad was arranged so nicely I almost felt bad eating it. Almost. They gave me key lime pie with pineapple because they were switching menus. Free dessert tastes even better when your original lunch plan has been defeated by the power grid.

Where I ranVernon Worthen Park 300 S 400 E, St. George, UT 84770
I started at Vernon Worthen Park and ran 5.21 miles through St. George in 1:00:51. The watch gives me an 11:40 average pace and 313 feet of climbing. The weather screenshot reads 81°F, a rather sharp change from the snowy New England stops. I had already driven through the mountains to get here, and the Utah run was another chance to see a little more of town on foot. I am quite capable of appreciating a dramatic landscape while also asking why the sun has turned the temperature up so far.
