Boulder City was part of a western trip with Donnie that would also take me into Utah, Arizona, and California. We flew into Vegas, and before we could check into the hotel we had time to go to Boulder City. Donnie explored while I ran. We returned on May 8 for the photograph and food, so this is one of the stops where the three parts happened on different days. I liked the line of palm trees along the street and the dark tone of the finished picture. Palm Line was the result. Turns out even a waiting-to-check-in day can be put to work.

Read about this meal

We returned to Boulder City after a Hoover Dam boat tour and ate at The Dillinger. It was a burger place, so naturally I opened with fried mac and cheese. Then came the Capone: a huge burger with a fried egg, bacon, and cheese. The menu called it the messiest burger they served. I cannot prove they tested every burger, but it made a convincing case. The fries were crisp, too. This was our second visit to town after the run, and I had no problem coming back for the food portion of the assignment.

Where I ranFrank Crowe Park
537 Cherry St, Boulder City, NV 89005

I ran Boulder City while Donnie walked around town and we waited to check into our Vegas hotel. Starting near Frank Crowe Park, I covered 4.36 miles in 55:44. The average pace was 12:46 per mile, and the watch counted 665 feet of elevation gain. That is a lot of climbing for a run I squeezed into spare time. I came back a few days later for the picture and meal. Nevada may be the first stop where the schedule looked a bit scrambled, but I still got all three parts done.
