Read the story behind the art
Doylestown was an added Pennsylvania stop, so I did not have a long list of photo options. I chose this tree-lined view over another spot just south of it. I like the way the trees start on the left and pull the eye inward, and I deliberately let the foreground go soft with a wide aperture. The high-contrast trunks work for me. The gold tone was an accident: I blended a sampled color layer with the main picture, saw what Hard Light did, and kept it. I wish all mistakes came with such good lighting.
Because the Pennsylvania location was not a planned destination there wasn’t much photo opportunities in Doylestown. It was between this location and one just to the south of this location.

“Dessert was the only option they had, chocolate peanut-butter cake, and I was perfectly willing to accept that limitation. This unplanned stop managed a pretty good meal.”
Read about this meal
Ed and I ate on the patio at Penn Taproom after looking around Doylestown. The place was small and homey, with brick underfoot and a little bar room that even had a fireplace. I ordered chicken and waffles with asparagus, cheese sauce, and syrup. Mixing the cheese sauce with the syrup sounded questionable; it tasted surprisingly good. Dessert was the only option they had, chocolate peanut-butter cake, and I was perfectly willing to accept that limitation. This unplanned stop managed a pretty good meal.

I began at the YMCA of Bucks County and covered 5.83 miles around Doylestown in 1:09:22. My watch recorded an 11:53 average pace and 317 feet of climbing. Pennsylvania had not been on the original itinerary for this trip with Ed, but I still got the three parts together: the run, the tree-lined photograph, and a meal at Penn Taproom. I am beginning to see a pattern. When I add a state on the fly, I can usually make the project work; my schedule simply has to stop complaining.
